Al Massimo Theatre
The author of the project for the current Teatro “Al Massimo” (originally CineTeatro Massimo), is Giovan Battista Santangelo (1889-1966), an engineer trained at the school of Ernesto Basile, from whom he maintains the attention to good craft and the essence of taste.
The Bellini Theatre
The Bellini Theatre is the oldest in the historical centre of Palermo, with a complex and tormented history. The earliest information regarding this location reports that in 1676 Ponzio Valguarnera of the Marquises of Santa Lucia ceded a warehouse of his palace, located on the floor of the Palazzo Pretorio, to host theatrical comedies.
The Biondo Theatre
The theatre was designed in 1899 by the municipal engineer Nicolò Mineo, a refined designer, culturally close to the school of Damiani Almeyda (designer of the Politeama Theater), and was completed in 1903.
Teatro Cantunera
The cultural, tourist and sports association “Città dell’Arte” has been committed, since its foundation, to promoting popular traditions, recovering ancient songs, texts, musical pieces and dances, and to enhancing the work of artists from the Mediterranean area, in particular Sicilian authors and performers, or more generally artists who work in Sicily and whose point of reference is the rich and varied artistic culture that Sicily has expressed and continues to express over the centuries and up to the present day.
The Puppets Theatre " Carlo Magno"
The “Carlo Magno” Theatre Company was born on the initiative of Enzo Mancuso, the last descendant of the puppet master family of the same name, who began his activity in Palermo in 1928, when he opened an Opera dei Pupi (traditional marionettes) theatre in the Borgo Vecchio neighbourhood.
The Puppets Theatre (Cuticchio)
The Opera dei Pupi is recognized by UNESCO as a “Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.” In its most classical and codified forms, puppet theatre took shape in the mid-19th century, when stories of bandits and saints, Shakespearean dramas, and above all the very popular tales of the Paladins of France were staged.
